StarTerm v1.1 --- 09-Feb-1986
by Jim Nangano & Steve Plegge
=============================
*Features*
----------
o ASCII and XMODEM protocol file transfers
o 300 to 9600 baud rate
o Telephone dialer
o Function keys
o Load file recognition and stripping
o Text file conversion, both ASCII and XMODEM
o Full/Half duplex
Telephone Dialer
----------------
Phone numbers are kept in the file "Star.Dir" in the current directory.
These numbers, and a dialing prefix ("ATDT" for Hayes, for instance), are
entered from the "Phone/Dial" menu selection. Enter the service name in
the left column, and the number on the right. The dialing prefix goes in
the box to the right of the "SAVE" gadget.
Click any of the "Dial" gadgets to dial, "Cancel" to abort, or "SAVE" to
save to the phone file.
Function Keys
-------------
Function key definitions are kept in the file "Star.Keys" in the current
directory. These definitions are reached via the "Terminal/Edit F-Keys"
menu. Enter the string you want each F-key to send. If you want the F-key
to send a CR (return), use a "}". You can enter control characters, and
they will saved and sent correctly, but they will be displayed as "box"
characters.
Click "Cancel" to abort, or "SAVE" to save the function key definitions.
Load Files
----------
StarTerm recognizes load files on binary XMODEM downloads and does
apppropriate pad stripping of the trash. No more CHOP!
Text Conversion
---------------
Since the Amiga uses linefeed (LF) for newline, and the rest of the world
uses carriage-return (CR) or CR/LF, StarTerm does a simple conversion of
LF->CR on send, and CR->LF on receive. This is done on both XMODEM and
ASCII send/receive.
Binary XMODEM send/receive does NO conversion.
Full/Half Duplex
----------------
StarTerm starts in full duplex mode; the "Terminal" menu will show an
option for "Half Duplex". Select this to change to half duplex. Another
look at the "Terminal" menu now shows a "Full Duplex" option. Select this
to change back.
Defaults
--------
1200 baud, full duplex.
